Red is the Colour of Love…

We were delighted to meet with Lester and Wendy at Dove Barn to discuss their wedding photography.  Dove Barn, located in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, was a new venue for us so we were excited to take a good look around.

We arrived in the pouring rain but that didn’t dampen spirits one little bit! We loved the venue and immediately spotted plenty of opportunities for wedding photography both inside and out. After spending time with the couple learning of their plans for the day we discussed ideas for photographs. Wendy and Lester were keen to capture the beautiful building and grounds for their pictures. A few group shots were discussed together with locations for images of them together. All we needed now was for the weather to be on our side!

The big day arrived and the weather was perfect! Sally went to the Bride’s home to capture her preparing for the day whilst Fran met with the Groom at the venue.

We love weddings, they’ve always got their own little personal touches. Wendy and Lester had asked each guest to wear a little bit of red which really blended the party together. Lester also had a BestWoman instead of a Best Man, we don’t want to be sexist but she was probably the most efficient best ‘man’ we’d ever met!

Wendy had her daughter with her as she prepared for the day and then later her grandsons arrived at their home. They all looked so smart and their arrival clearly made Wendy forget about any of her wedding day nerves. Meanwhile Lester and his Best Woman, Kerry, had fun posing for photographs together at the venue.

As the guests arrived at the venue you could see just how effective the touches of red were, it really brought the whole thing together.

The ceremony was lovely, very personal and with clear support and love from their friends and family. After a few photographs inside we all headed outside for some group wedding photography in front of the stunning building. The banter and fun from the group was terrific, such great atmosphere and lovely to hear so much laughter.

With the main photographs done and the guests enjoying their drinks we headed into the grounds with the Bride and Groom for some couple portraits. We were only 15 minutes or so which gave them a few moments together but at the same time they didn’t feel like they’d abandoned their guests. We’d also planned these photographs which meant that we could be efficient without rushing anything.

Back at the venue, the Bride and Groom circulated amongst their guests in the pretty courtyard. A perfect opportunity to capture some candids and the all important confetti shot.

The newlyweds enjoyed a few days in Norfolk after their big day whilst we prepared their images for viewing. A short slideshow of their day was presented to them together with their images. They were delighted, as were we.
